Los Angeles, CA 90026
$995,000
4BR, 2BA
Do you like yellow? If so, here’s an interesting post-modern in the Silver Lake hills you should check out this Sunday. This house seems like it was kinda thrown together in some places and could us a little updating, but it’s got some nice things working for it. Check out this beamed ceiling:

2981 Waverly Dr.
Los Angeles, CA 90039
3BR, 2BA
$899,000
This house just gives me that inexplicable good feeling. You know that feeling you get when you see pictures of a space and you can totally see yourself being comfortable there? Yeah, that one. And that feelingĀ is what real estate agents seek out because it has lead to many a home purchase over the years (but sadly won’t for me for this house).
I’ve driven up in this part of Silver Lake by the Rowena Reservoir and it does have the amazing views advertised for this house. Nice to see that the living room contains windows that show it off.

2171 W Silver Lake Dr
Los Angeles, CA 90039
$1,069,000
This house really intrigues me. It’s located in what I feel is the best part of Silver Lake – along Silver Lake Dr overlooking the reservoir. Sure there’s a gate around it (the reservoir) but I wouldn’t mind waking up every morning to a water view. And this is as close as it gets t0 that in this part of L.A. Plus there’s a jogging path (and dog park) right outside your door.

5606 Hill Oak Drive
Los Angeles, CA 90068
3 BR, 3.5 BA
$1,699,950
“Welcome to the 50’s!” That’s what the agent said to us upon our arrival to this open house and really, there couldn’t have been a more perfect greeting. Built in 1957, this is the kind of house that makes you want to place Frank Sinatra on the turntable and drink a Dewars on the rocks.
Located at the top of The Oaks in Los Feliz, the view from the backyard is amazing – on a clear day you can see Catalina island. I’m a sucker for views so that was a major plus for me right there.
The inside is pretty dated. Either this will be bought by someone who wants to live in a house that is reminiscent of another era, or it will be totally rehabbed and updated. I felt like I was in my grandparents house so I would probably go for the latter.
If you looked up the word “den” in an encyclopedia, you would probably see this room:
Love the built-in desk and shelves:
A major plus is the size of the house (2844 square feet) and the great feeling of privacy. Sitting out by the pool you could totally picture the pool parties that must have gone on there back in the day. My guess is that someone will be hosting their own parties there very soon.

4205 Parva
Los Angeles, CA 90027
$1,845,000 (Short Sale!)
4 BR, 4 BA
As you will soon discover in the weeks and months ahead as this blog takes shape, I am a hard-core sucker for 70s architecture. It might have to do with spending a lot of time at my aunt and uncle’s house growing up in the suburbs of Chicago. They built their house in the late 60s but it was decked out in 70s flair.
Not a whole lot of this house reminds me of theirs, but the bathroom does for sure:

All that brown and the light bulbs surrounding the mirror? Pure 70s. And things only get more 70s from there. Check out this kitchen!

Whoa. And this lounge!

That room makes me want to play board games for some reason. I can’t wait to check it out this Sunday at the open house.
Someone will take advantage of the short sale, do some remodeling (or a lot of remodeling) and perch themselves on their new balcony and admire THIS:

2405 Ivanhoe
Los Angeles, CA 90039
Price: $929,000
I walked into this house with my girlfriend a few weekends ago and honestly, we both really didn’t want to ever leave. We loved pretty much everything about it, but a few things really stood out:
OK, we loved just about everything about it. It was located on a very quiet block in the Silver Lake Hills. Some very lucky family will one day reside in this house.
