Silver Lake is lacking in good hotel options. When my girlfriend’s parents came to visit we put them up at the Comfort Inn on Sunset near Echo Park. While it was convenient and cheap, I don’t think they’ll be rushing back there any time soon. There are a few other cheap hotels in the area, but none that really are all that exciting.

Which is why we should all be rejoicing with the news that El Tres Inn has opened up in our neighborhood. Offering a cool alternative to the chain hotels, El Tres is made up of, you guessed it, three luxury suites that can accommodate up to four people with a whole host of pampering options. Check out the design of the suite they call “Tres”:

El Tres was started by locals Dave Neupert (Shortstop) and Melanie Tusquellas (Edendale). The rooms, basically small apartments, can be used for a night or two, extended stays or “staycations”, or parties and events (like the MTV Movie Awards guest suite they hosted).

El Chavo is located on the ground floor and a number of bars, restaurants and stores are withing walking distance.

Artistic touches can be found all over the facility:

Great care was taken to ensure that each suite was unique and memorable. There are in-suite work areas, complimentary Wi-Fi, state-of-the-art media rooms with 52-inch TVs, iPod docks and much more. But it’s the design that will lure in the edgy clientele they seek.
