I went to Big Bear Lake for the weekend with my girlfriend, dog and cat. Yes we took our cat – she’s been sick lately and has needed a steady stream of medicine. Little did we know, however, that the fresh mountain air of Big Bear would clear her sinuses right up. Needless to say she loved it there almost as much as we did.
The house you see above was one of the bigger houses I saw, but it’s a good example of the style of architecture you’ll see there. Plenty of room, lots of stairs and lots of logs. Speaking of lots of stairs…

Most of the houses on the street behind us had a bunch of stairs leading up to the front door but this was an extreme example. Not sure I could make that hike after a long day on the ski slopes.
Our cabin was super comfy (carpeting everywhere including the bathroom and kitchen!) but we think it may have been haunted. What do you think?

Big Bear would be a pefect place for a ski-loving Southern Californian to have a second house. There were plenty for sale and I’m sure there are deals galore right now. I skiied some back in the day but nowadays I’d prefer to spend my time here:
